|Today, about 80 percent of humanity lives on less than $10 a day. We all want to end poverty in the world, but many of us do not live up to our duty to each other to meet that goal. We forget about the poor, ignore them, or just are not sure how to help. In light of this . . .|
At #SVMGlobal, our goal is to spur innovation in the Global Movement to eliminate extreme poverty. Part of that work is to develop better solutions and share them with people like you. Eradicating poverty is one of the world’s most important and urgent tasks. Many people grow up deprived of their basic needs and rights. But poverty is not just a challenge for people living in the world’s poorest countries and regions of the world. It is estimated that 100+ million people live in poverty in the world’s most developed countries, a number that has increased as a consequence of the economic recession affecting most of the developed world. Today, more than ever, poverty is a universal challenge that requires a global response. We must do better for our people. Efforts to end poverty and promote inclusive societies cannot succeed when so many people are denied the opportunity to grow free from fear, deprivation and want. Concerned about the devastating effects of poverty has brought #SheilaV working to end poverty, hunger & homelessness. We believe that helping avoid poverty and overcoming its damaging effects would make a huge difference to people’s lives, and those of their families, communities and societies.
